August 2019 Committee Update
Next City Commission Meeting Scheduled for September 10
Our City Commission takes a well-deserved break each August, so there are no Commission meetings this month. The next City Commission meeting will be on September 10.
However, progress continues! Several G.O. Bond projects are moving right along; you can see a step-by-step guide to several projects on the City’s website. The direct link to the G.O. Bond page is: http://pompanobeachfl.gov/index.php/pages/go_bond/go_bond.
There are myriad opportunities to learn more about our city’s history this month, and immerse yourself in art, culture, music, technology and more! Here are just a few highlights:
August 15: Play Ball Exhibition Opening Reception
Attention baseball and history fans: Attend the Play Ball Exhibition Opening Reception from 5:30pm – 8:30pm at the Historic Ali Cultural Arts, 353 Martin Luther King Blvd. This is a month-long exhibit which is curated by the Rock Road Restoration Historical Group, Inc. Learn more about Pompano Beach’s fascinating legacy of African American baseball players during segregation and beyond. At the opening reception, enjoy guest speakers, light baseball-themed refreshments and entertainment.
August 26: Technology Career Fair
The City of Pompano Beach and the Community Redevelopment Agency cordially invite businesses and job seekers to participate in a free Technology Career Fair. The Fair’s goal is to fast-track the meeting of technology job seekers, employers and workforce resources. The City is aiming for a mix of companies from a variety of industries with immediate job openings and workforce resources available, so as to cater to a broad segment of job seekers.
This Career Fair will be held on Monday, August 26th, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the E. Pat Larkins Community Center, 520 MLK Blvd., Pompano Beach, FL.
