April 2019 Committee Update
A very belated thank you to everyone who supported our mission to keep Pompano moving forward in the November 2018 election. We are pleased to have played an important role in electing a group of leaders who will keep Pompano moving forward:
- Mayor Rex Hardin, Mayor at Large
- Vice Mayor Barry Moss, District 5
- Commissioner Andrea McGee, District 1
- Commissioner Rhonda Eaton, District 2
- Commissioner Tom McMahon, District 3
- Commissioner Beverly Perkins, District 4
As a reminder, you can contact our City Commissioners and Mayor on the City’s “Commission” page, at http://pompanobeachfl.gov/pages/commission.
Since the election, we’ve been busy keeping up with all the great things happening in our wonderful city and working hard to ensure that we keep it going!
On March 13, 2019, Pompano’s business community heard about the status of the city’s GO Bonds during a quarterly Chamber Tourism Update presented by Elaine Fitzgerald. Capital Improvements and Innovation Director Horacio Danovich was invited to update attendees about the GO Bonds that are slated for many infrastructure projects. You can see Horacio’s talk in this 10-minute video.
Our Public Safety Advisory Board Recommendation
As a result of community feedback, our committee has recommended that the City consider forming a Public Safety Advisory Board. The purpose of this board would be to act as community liaison to the Pompano Beach district of the Broward Sheriff’s Office, actively fostering positive communication between police and all segments of the community. Its mission statement is “To identify, evaluate, and respond to the needs of both the community and BSO’s Pompano district, in order to establish and maintain effective avenues of communication and a positive relationship with the citizens of Pompano Beach. The Board would serve in an advisory capacity to the BSO Pompano Beach staff regarding issues relevant to police-community relations. Look for more updates about this in the coming months.
Atlantic Boulevard Bridge Improvements
The Atlantic Boulevard bridge improvements are well underway! (Photo courtesy City of Pompano Beach.) You’ve probably noticed the periodic lane closures that began in early March. While it takes a little longer to get over the bridge, it’s exciting to see the progress, and construction is currently slated to be completed by late June.
Check out the City’s Project Map

Going forward, we’ll be posting a monthly update on what we’re working on and how you can get involved. We’d love to hear your feedback, so feel free to drop us a line.
Thanks again for your support. Let’s keep it going!
